Naples Pizzeria and Italian Restaurant (629 Monroe St., Eden; 623-3001) has brought a little of the old world to downtown Eden.
Naples offers traditional entrees such as Manicotti Al Forno ($6.50), Fettucine Alfredo ($6.75), Baked Ziti ($6.75), Eggplant Parmigiano with Spaghetti ($7.95) and Tortellini ($6.95) with meat or Alfredo sauce. Stromboli ($6.75 small, $12.50 large) includes pepperoni, chicken, steak and veggie.
Hand tossed ($7.25 12-inch, $9.99 16-inch) and Sicilian pan ($8.45 12-inch, $10.99 16-inch) cheese pizzas are offered with extra toppings available. Specialty pizzas include meatless Pizza al Blanco ($9.95 12-inch, $13.99 16-inch) with two cheeses and broccoli, Hawaiian ($8.99, $12.65), Chicken Caesar ($12.65, $14.95) and Hog Heaven ($11.50, $14.95) topped with four meats.
Hot and cold subs (Philly Cheese Steak, $4.65 and $6.45; Italian Sausage, $4.65 and $6.45; and Veggie, $4.75 and $6.55) are offered in 8-inch and 12-inch sizes.
A Tuesday special features two plates of spaghetti with meat sauce and two house salads for $13.99 and it's two plates of lasagna and garlic bread for $14.49 on Thursdays. Get any sub with fries and a drink for $6.49.
A pizza buffet, with pasta and salad fixings, is offered for $5.45 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and $5.95 noon to 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The buffet is offered for dinner 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. Cost is $5.95.
Naples is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Special farmers market
If you go looking for seasonal produce and other goods at the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market this Saturday, its not likely you'll find much. That's because the market will be held at the Pavilion at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, 1921 W. Lee St.
The special Fall Harvest and Farmers Appreciation Day market is 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes many of the usual market vendors in addition to special exhibits by community groups such as Natural Triad Magazine and Slow Food Piedmont. Alex Amoroso of Cheesecakes by Alex will even be serving a breakfast of eggs, sausage, hash browns, biscuits and coffee. Cost is $5. For information, call 373-2402 or 373-2199.
Peruvian-style chicken
Pollo Campeon (5553 W. Market St., Greensboro; 855-2626) is serving Peruvian-style baked chicken to eat in or to take out.
Prices are $4.95 for a quarter bird, $6.95 for a half bird and $12.50 for a whole chicken. Chicken is served with a choice of coleslaw, fries or yucca.
Chicken sandwiches ($5.95) are available baked or grilled and come with a choice of fries or yucca.
In addition to Peruvian Corn with Cheese ($3.50), other a la carte items include plantains ($1.75), beans ($1.49) and tortillas ($1).
Desserts (Arroz con Leche, $2.25; Cheesecake, $2.25; Flan, $2.49) and bottled beverages are available.
Early bird Italian
Here are some specials worth noting at Riva's Trattoria (257 N. Greene St., Greensboro).
Owners Rob and Tracy Lamothe are offering a daily early bird special from 5 to
5:30 p.m. that includes Spaghetti and Meatballs with a house salad and glass of house red or white wine for $12.
On Tuesdays, select wines will be half price. A weekly special, $10 Wednesday, offers an $18 menu item for just $10 on Wednesdays. This week, it's Inner Harbor Shrimp Creme Pesto. Dine-in only.
The Lamothe s have also added some seasonal specialties to the menu including a daily soup special and Tortino de Mele, an apple tart served with vanilla gelato.

Store collecting yogurt lids
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Yoplait yogurt's Save Lids to Save Lives kicks off 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the WalMart at 4424 W. Wendover Ave. in Greensboro.
For every pink lid from a container of Yoplait yogurt turned into this WalMart location through Dec. 31, Yoplait donates 10 cents to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Oktoberfest

Barbecue restaurant sets stage for second location
With Country Barbecue building a new location at 3921 Sedgebrook St. off N.C. 68 in North High Point, many are wondering if the original location at 4010 W. Wendover Ave. is moving. 'Cue lovers of Greensboro, rest assured; the Wendover location is staying put.
The new second location in High Point is scheduled to open later this fall, says owner Slade McPherson .
Restaurant on the move
Tequila Joe's at 3011 Spring Garden St. has closed. In its place, the downtown hot spot Margarita's Grill will move from its current location at 221 S. Elm St. Both restaurants are owned by Rocco Scarfone .
The new Margarita's Grill and Sports Bar will offer "the same great food of Margarita's with the ability to watch all of your favorite sporting events," says Scarfone.
Opening is scheduled for Oct. 17.
Plans for the downtown space are not yet known.
Artist's work at franchise
Greensboro's newest McDonald's (14102 Fernhurst Way, Greensboro) features some of the newest works by well-known Greensboro artist William Mangum .
Highlighting the warm, contemporary decor of stone and tile of the new McDonald's (just off South Elm-Eugene Street at the I-40/85 Bypass interchange) are six prints by Mangum that represent familiar scenes of Greensboro and from across the state.
The franchise is now serving its signature menu and gourmet coffees, but a grand opening will be held Nov. 1. Details to come.
Fall prix fixe at Fleming's
Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar (3342 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro; http://flemingssteakhouse.com) is offering a Fall Prix Fixe Menu through Jan. 5.
